About Me
My academic training in psychology focused on identity, trauma, human development, learning and schools, and motivation at Harvard University (Masters, 2014) and Temple University (Ph.D., 2019).
My experience in the therapeutic practice has taken many forms over the years. For a decade prior to entering graduate school, I worked as a life coach for school-refusing adolescents and their families addressing the emotional, relational, and structural issues that create conflict, obstruct growth, and inhibit self-realization.
After completing my graduate studies, I worked as a predoctoral clinical intern in the Bering Strait region of Alaska providing culturally-immersed trauma-focused psychotherapy for the remote Bering Sea coast and island communities. I then returned to Philadelphia and completed my predoctoral internship working with children with intellectual and developmental disabilities and behavioral health challenges.
I continue my creative approach to psychotherapy and therapeutic coaching work with clients as part of JFA.
My Approach to Therapy
My orientation/approach as a therapist is rooted in humanism, mindfulness, attachment, and systems theory. I believe that the therapeutic process is more than empathic listening and supportive talk. It is a creative vehicle of self-realization, empowerment, and change.
