About Me
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with a Masters Degree in Counseling from St. Edward’s University.
Since 2009, I’ve worked in the field of mental health and addiction treatment as a therapist, adjunct professor, and administrator.
I’ve served as a therapist in various settings including inpatient/outpatient psychiatric, inpatient/outpatient addiction treatment and detox, pediatric oncology, and private practice.
My Approach to Therapy
I consider the process of therapy an ongoing conversation, free of directives and open to possibilities.
The power of personal narrative and how we relate emotionally, physically, and behaviorally to the many stories we tell ourselves about the past, present, and future, are fundamental aspects of my approach to care.
Through a systemic lens, I look to the individual experience, and the individual in context of family of origin and current family system, to better understand how we came to be, and how best to tend to those parts of ourselves that are struggling.
When working with families and couples, my goal is to improve communication, connectedness, and mutual reciprocity through the practice of emotional expression, validation, and active dialogue.
Through a supportive, safe, and compassionate stance, my goal with each client is to bring about solutions through self examination, insight, and systemic change.
